“so we are clear, North Dakota just banned abortion less than 2 weeks after a missed period. In a state with 1 clinic. w/24hr wait” - @robinmarty
I think the only appropriate response to this is HOLY FUCKING SHIT.
For more information, click here.

The stupidity of this…I mean seriously, there are women who don’t even *know* they’re pregnant until after that deadline. This isn’t about saving unborn babies to these people, this is about controlling sex and punishing women who dare have it without the intent of having a baby.
In other words, they are using children, human beings, as punishment. A child shouldn’t be a punishment, having a baby shouldn’t be something you dread. It should be something you want when it happens, something you’re willing to do.
Do they honestly think this law will stop people who don’t want to be pregnant from ending the pregnancy? Five minutes of research will find dozens of cases from when abortion was completely illegal where women tried anyways and died as a result. A few hours, hundreds, an entire day, you’ll stumble across thousands of stories from around the world, some which could have very well happened yesterday, where woman have died or been rendered infertile from abortions done in a back alley, dirty motel room, or some bathroom somewhere. When an abortion is done in a legal medical setting, it’s been shown to be safer than *giving birth*!
Making it illegal doesn’t get the abortion rate any lower, it existed before Row v Wade. What makes the abortion rate lower is something called “comprehensive sex ed”, making birth control cheap and easy to get also lowers abortion rates. I’ve heard that even economic support for low income families with small children would even get the rate down. Most of the self identifying pro life movement is against. Think about that for a bit.
(Just realized, doesn’t this state also ban weekends and holidays for the wait period?)

In every pro-choice blog.

The National Abortion Federation (NAF) can provide you with abortion counseling or referrals to pro-choice post-abortion counseling and can be called at 1-800-772-9100 or you can go to www.prochoice.org.

You obviously didn’t look hard enough.

The worse part is that, if it wasn’t for anti-choicers stigmatizing abortion, making it harder and harder to get one or making sure women* who have gotten an abortion feel alone and separated, we really wouldn’t need all this counseling, would we?

Reblogged for the response.

I have a very personal grudge against PETA for very many reasons. I actually forgot this existed for a while but I was reading this excellent article (TW for images at the link for like, EVERY TRIGGER SRSLY) smashing up PETA’s bullshit and I was reminded, oh yeah, yet another reason PETA are complete and uttery godawful asshats.

MILK DOESN’T CAUSE AUTISM.

FYI.

THAT’S A COMPLETE AND UTTER LIE.

NOT TO MENTION.

They use autism as a reason to not drink milk.

As a reason to become vegan.

AS IF AUTISM IS SUCH A BAD THING THAT IT WILL ACTUALLY PERSUADE PEOPLE TO NOT DRINK MILK BECAUSE OH NO YOU MIGHT TUNRN AUTISTIC

yeeeeeeeeeeeeep

this is some more vegan fuckery. and another reason why i am very critical of evangelical moral veganism.

Bullshit. Bullshit! Bullshit!! BULLSHIT!

I have autism. Vaccines, milk, nor how my parents raised me is what caused it.

Why, because it’s genetic in my family that’s why.

A day in the life of a Cheesehead: When people argue that the side-effects of pregnancy are reason enough to have an abortion:

cheeeesehead:

The possible side effects of pregnancy (just a few):

  • Morning sickness
  • Fatigue
  • Mood swings
  • Back pain
  • Constipation
  • Dizziness
  • Breast changes
  • Anemia
  • High or low blood pressure
  • Excess saliva/bleeding gums
  • Infection
  • Death

The possible side effects of having an abortion (just a few):

How about citing your sources? Because no where in my research among medical studies have I found that legal abortion causes any of those.

Illegal abortion, which is almost never done correctly, on the other hand…

Also, the psychological effects you claim to exist? That has been known to happen more often to women who give their babies up for adoption. By the way, did you know there is a stigma for that too? Apparently it’s “abandoning” or “selling” your baby. Who would have thought?

How many years has it been when you read a fairy tell and its king and queen or prince and princes not queen and queen or king and king etc… If you want to share this with your children then that’s your right but I will not be sharing it with mine tell they are at an age to really know and understand and it should be my right or responsible to do so when, not the schools. And another thing my brother in law is gay and he does not think it should be schools teaching it or sharing material on it should be the parents right to discuss issues of this manner at an appropriate time. I don’t condole gay marriage or partnership but to which his or her own. They have a cow when it comes to saying god in the pledge of legates or talking about god or religion so why should we about this… It’s always about it’s my right but what about the rights of people and parents that don’t want this garbage out there for their kids just saying…

Some guy on a comment board

Can anyone decipher this? I am so confused.

(via stfuhatemongers)

Basically, he’s saying that homosexuality and the like shouldn’t be taught to small children in public schools, and that it should be up to the parents…I think.

Personally, I agree that it’s up to the parents to decide when their children learn about it, and sex in general. But I’m not opposed to schools talking about it, just have the parents sign a slip saying they can take the special class that talks about grown up things.

But it’s the woman’s choice…

alltoworshiphim:

Yes, it was the woman’s choice when she chose to sleep with the guy (in all cases except rape).  That was her choice.  Now she has the responsibility to that child growing inside of her to let he/she see the light of day and live life.  (yes, that is a child inside of her)

If you didn’t want a child…why’d you sleep with the guy?

Because sex is for more than just mating. It’s as much for pleasure and you should feel no shame for enjoying it.

Also, ever hear of being pressured into something? Like being pressured into sex? Many people would (wrongly in my opinion) argue that such situations were consensual. Even if this was happening in an abusive relationship.

Yes, it’s a woman’s choice to have sex…but it’s also her choice on weather or not she wants to have a child. It’s her choice on what to do if she gets pregnant. Simple as that.

And it’s not your business what she does, it’s not the government’s, and it’s not mine.

Overheard at family weekend between mom and freshman

  1. Mom: So... how ARE your classes? Doing well, I assume.
  2. Frosh: I'm gonna, like, fail everything.
  3. Mom: What do you mean? Do you need a tutor? Honey, just let us know.
  4. Frosh: No, I need my books.
  5. Mom: But you got all that loan money. And your dad and I have given you over $4,000. What did you do with it?!
  6. Frosh: No, I still have it. The teacher must have passed them out on the first day. I wasn't here, remember? You had to take me on your stupid cruise and now I don't have my stupid books because I wasn't here on the first day.
  7. Mom: Uh, Connor? You have to buy them.
  8. Frosh: Yeah, now that I missed the teacher passing them out. There must not be enough to go around. I'm not spending all my money on stupid books.
  9. Mom: Did you ask the others where they got their book?
  10. Frosh: No, they'll know I was dumb and missed the first day and so now I have to buy my books like a lame asshole.
  11. Mom: Don't swear. Didn't you know in college, you BUY your books? All of them. You have to buy them. They don't give them out like in high school.
  12. Frosh: No, I didn't KNOW that because you and dad never TOLD me. That's dumb. Why should I buy books? I hate books. It's the teacher's job to teach me stuff. If they want me to learn stuff from books, they should buy them.
  13. Mom: *looks around* Look, honey, the bookstore is still open! Let's go get you your books!
  14. Frosh: Whatever. Only if you get me an iPad to like, read them on.
  15. They leave.
  16. Me: *looks up from typing this, facepalms* Did that just fucking happen?
